Lights Of The Morning - Portrait

To be honest I needed to dust off my portrait painting skills as didn't paint any of them for a while before this piece. Although I couldn't be happier with the process and end result either. The challenge of a portrait painting goes beyond colours, ratio, and composition. The judge of a good portrait is the soul of that person showing through the brushstrokes, the vibes and emotions of that moment we try to capture. But the biggest justice -any painter can ask for- is that heartwarming moment when this little two years old girl recognized herself seeing her own portrait. I loved to work on details such as the reflection of the window with the shadow of her mother and curly lock of hair.
